It's My One-year Anniversary, Y'all!

Today I celebrate the one-year anniversary of freestyleartdesign.net! I could talk for hours about the challenges involved in the process of building a website (not to mention all the analytical data to review after the fact)! but that would spoil all the fun. Instead, I’ll just say that it continues to be a learning experience as technology continues to change.

Change is indeed one of the few constants upon which we can rely, and it has never been more evident than today. The world as we knew it seems to have been replaced with the bizarro version where anything goes and absolutely nothing is sacred. Politics, war, disease, and social unrest are affecting human behavior, and Nature is wreaking Her own havoc with extreme temperatures, hurricanes, floods, fires, and earthquakes. Even I admit that it sounds biblical…

But it’s not all bad news. Many people were able to make positive changes in their lives, and quite a few of them chose entrepreneurship over returning to their previous jobs. For the first time ever, employers are having to recognize the value of good employees, and they’re offering bonuses and better wages to attract new workers. There have been many stories of families reconnecting simply because of proximity, and awareness of conditions previously ignored have been brought fully into the light. There are still many obstacles to overcome, but there is much potential for even more positive change. We only need to stay focused.

I remember feeling soooo optimistic at the prospect of defeating a common enemy and reopening the world, only to be dismayed at the level of opposition to protective measures. Where I had joyfully anticipated a full return to in-person events, I now find myself cancelling engagements and staying very close to home. Again. Like so many of you, I am tired of masks and sanitizers and limiting my activities. Yet, I’ll continue to do what I can to protect myself and others, and hope that we will eventually find a way to eradicate the pestilence that threatens us all. In the meantime, I will practice the mindfulness that brings peace and creativity into my space. I will always send love and gratitude out into The Universe. I will follow the path before me.

May this new season bring forth the courage, compassion, and consideration needed to manifest the very best that life has to offer. Namaste.
